Seven Nation Army - Ben L’Oncle Soul
I keep reminding myself I really need to pick up a CD by these guys.
Ugh this is really embarassing but I learned this song and still haven’t been able to sing through it a single time without having to stop so I don’t cry near the end.

Working on my candidate statement for the McGill Daily in exhausted near-delirium after sitting in on a four-hour editorial board meeting. Holy shit, do they ever take this anti-oppression thing seriously. Man, I am so excited.
Also listening to Slovenian… rock? Jazz-ish alternative? I don’t know what this is, except that it’s the boyfriend’s fault. Also the intro to this song is to die for.
I totally forgot how much I love ragtime until this afternoon. So here - have some pianists being ridiculous. They’re playing chopsticks.
It Happens In Florida - The Burning Hell
This band is just straight up fantastic, especially live. Their songs include “The Berlin Conference” and “Bretton Woods.” If you are at all like me you will find this exciting. But anyways - this is undoubtedly my favourite love song.
“Love / it’s like a monster truck / it fills up whole stadiums / but it crushes smaller trucks. / Love / it’s like a marmoset / it may be small and cute / but sometimes it eats its young.”
I’m pretty sure that, given the chance, I would’ve been a big groupie for Phineas Newborn Jr. I wish there were more videos of him playing. Look at that calm-as-hell face of his. Ain’t no thang to a champ.

Catchy jazz + the ability to whistle loudly + not caring who is around = my brother and I being probably the two most annoying people to hang out with simultaneously.
