About

I'm a kid who is interested in too many things, and sometimes I like to blather about those things.

I'm doing my undergrad in evolutionary biology at McGill University in Montreal. I hope to be a renegade palaeontologist/illustrator thingy extraordinaire someday.

I’m working on a self-portrait in a Borderlands-y kinda style to practice doing stuff with my tablet. Also because I am stupid excited about Borderlands 2, and fairly vain.
Uh, those things in my hands are going to be pistols (once I figure out how to draw pistols) because I was a rockin’ gunslingin’ ranger in the first game! A couple of those masher pistols and nothing could get in my damn way.

Today’s SciTech section in the Daily is a single page which is entirely taken up by drawings of dinosaurs I did. For anyone who’s interested, the one on top is Chasmosaurus belli and the other is Dromaeosaurus albertensis, and the original sketches were done at the Tyrrell Musem in Drumheller.

This week in science: DINOSAURS

(The illustration on the page opposite is also by me!)

A year in my sketchbook

  • nude model sketches
  • nude boyfriend sketches
  • art gallery sketches
  • thumbnails for bigger paintings
  • drawings of my own hands
  • illustrations of my characters
  • overcompensatory self portraits
  • depressing drawings about self harm
  • dinosaurs
  • Stephen Maturin

Seems about right.

Now I wish I had a pet archaeopteryx to deliver hand-written notes to people I disagree with.

Little portrait of Art Spiegelman for the Daily. Wonky eyes aside I ended up liking this for some reason.

I’m testing out using my tablet on my desktop rather than my laptop - it is pretty sweet.
Anyways this happened to me on my way home today - there were a group of four pigeons hangin’ out in the middle of the sidewalk, and when I approached them, rather than scatter away like pigeons normally do, these sons of bitches just walked ahead of me. Slowly, too, so that I actually felt bad and kind of moseyed along behind them for like half a block.

Dinosaur Comics drawing, which I felt deserved its own post. Because Dinosaur Comics is the best comic, so how could I not? There is no Utahraptor in the Tyrrell Museum though. Poor Utahraptor.
